The Marcel Dionne's Auction - October 2004
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/19/2004
Mainly because his Montreal Canadiens were almost always in the playoff hunt for the Stanley Cup, Guy Lafleur only once in his career represented Canada at the World Championships. That happened in the spring of 1981 in Sweden after the upstart Edmonton Oilers upset the Canadiens in 3 straight opening round games. Lafleur's white and red mesh jersey no longer has the company tag in the neck but "Sandow SK" is screened onto the outer rear hem. "Canada", the 5 maple leaves on the front and Guy's unfamiliar number "20" are also screened-on while "Lafleur" in thick tackle twill letters is sewn onto the nameplate. Jersey shows light wear with a few small black marks on the front, another black slash near the "Sandow SK" screening and some red board paint on each sleeve. This exceptional and scarce jersey comes from the personal collection of Team Canada executive Marvin Goldblatt who will sign a LOA that will be included.
