Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/29/2025
The NHL's oldest and most storied hockey team, the Montreal Canadiens were founded by J. Ambrose O'Brien on December 4, 1909, as a charter member of the National Hockey Association, the forerunner to the National Hockey League. Formed to be a team for the francophone community in Montreal, Les Canadiens would win the franchise's first of 24 Stanley Cup championships in 1915-16, and the rest as they say, is history. From the highly anticipated Canadiens’ Centennial Game, played December 4th, 2009 vs all-time rival the Boston Bruins, we offer one of the original 100 pucks used in the historic contest. Featuring “Match du Centenaire” on the obverse along with the date, a Canadiens CH crest and "100" centennial logo, the reverse has an NHL shield logo with "Official Game Puck". Exhibiting light use with a few marks, a hologram is affixed numbered GU04484. A COA from the Canadiens will accompany.
