Featuring two longstanding hockey leagues that are now defunct, the original Eastern Hockey League was founded in 1933 as the Eastern Amateur Hockey League, and lasted until 1973, with a few seasons of non-operation. The International Hockey League featured teams from both Canada and the US, and operated from 1945 to 2001. We have a collection of 59 EHL and IHL programs ranging from the early-1950s to late-1970s. For the EHL, there is 33 programs including 4 from the 1970s, 9 from the 1950s and 20 from the 1960s. Highlights include 1950-51 Atlantic City vs New York with Art Dorrington - the first black player to sign an NHL contract (there are three different programs with Dorrington), Nov 11th 1959 Greensboro vs Washington - first game ever played in Greensboro, 1960-61 Philadelphia vs Johnstown playoff program, and 1959-60 EHL yearbook. The IHL programs total 26 including 2 from the 1950s, 11 from the 1960s and 13 from the 1970s. Highlights include Jan 23, 1958 EL vs IL All-Star Game, Jan 4, 1962 IHL All-Star Game, Feb 14, 1961 Exhibition Detroit Red Wings (Howe, Sawchuk, Ullman) vs Omaha Knights, and 1973-74 Turner Cup playoffs. Some of the teams featured include the Philadelphia Ramblers, New York Rovers, Clinton Comets, Long Island Ducks, Charlotte Checkers, Johnstown Jets, Greensboro Generals, Muskegon Mohawks, Omaha Knights and others. Players featured in line-ups include Ed Giacomin, Chico Resch, Mike Palmateer and others. There is also a pair of programs from the USHL for 1949-40 and 1950-51 in the lot. Most of the programs show light wear with a few heavier wear.
