Starring players from the Maple Leafs, Canadiens and Maroons and featuring several legends, O-Pee-Chee's 1937-38 V304 Series "E" release was the fifth and final series from the company for the decade and was among the last of Canada's pre-war hockey card offerings. Featuring forty-six (46) of the forty-eight (48) cards making up the checklist, offered here is this near-complete set of the 1937-38 O-Pee-Chee V304 Series "E" release. Paced by a first (1st) group that includes the likes of 133-Broda (VG to VG-EX - light corner wear), 138-Conacher (GOOD - faded and corner wear), 139-Jackson (FR to G - creases and corner wear), 141-Apps (G to VG - corner wear), 152-Joliat (G to VG - front slightly faded and some discolouration at the bottom right) and 160-Blake RC (GOOD - surface wear), the second (2nd) group of key cards includes the specimens picturing 134-Horner (G to VG - bottom border ding and light corner wear), 137-Hamilton (VG to VG-EX - dinged bottom right corner), 142-Drillon RC (PR to F - creases and corner wear), 150-Siebert (PR - heavily creased and rounded corners), 175-Voss (VG to VG-EX - light border and corner wear) and 180-Cook (FR to G - corner crease, corner wear and fading). Missing the likes of 155-Haynes and 170-Ward to be considered complete, the balance of the set includes five (5) cards seen as being around VG to VG-EX (#'s 145-Kelly, 151-McKenzie, 161-Beveridge, 162-Shields and 163-Wentworth), nine (9) cards around G to VG (#'s 144-Metz, 146, 156, 157, 159-Lepine, 164, 177-Mondou, 178 and 179), four (4) cards around FR to G (#'s 140-Boll, 167, 168-Trottier and 172-Cain), ten (10) cards around PR to F (#'s 135-Fowler, 136-Davidson, 143-Thoms, 158-Drouin, 165, 166-Northcott, 169-Blinco, 171, 173 and 174) and lastly, six (6) cards seen in the scope of PR condition (#'s 147, 148, 149-Cude, 153-Mantha, 154-Gagnon and 176). Also including a total of eighteen (18) extras, including copies of 133-Broda (FR - off-center, corner wear and fading) and 138-Conacher (PR to F - creasing and bad corners), the condition breakdown for the rest of the additional cards includes a pair (2) of them around G to VG, four (4) around FR to G (#'s 157, , two (2) of them in the realm of PR to F and finally, nine (9) in the neighbourhood of PR. Of note, 156-Desilets and 164-Evans in the group of extras both have writing on their reverses.
