Thoroughly popular with collectors, York Peanut Butter issued their unique octagonal-shaped cards beginning in 1961-62. This lot contains a complete assemblage of the follow-up set issued in 1963-64, a complete set, a starter set in York album (28/54), and 3 1962-63 towel promo cards. The complete set is in the EX to EX-MT/NRMT range (6 or 7 cards have light discolouration on the reverse, with just a few cards sporting a small crease or bend). The exceptions include cards in the EX/MT to EX/MT+ range with #1 Horton (slight red print bleed top border), #2 Bower (slight blue print bleed left border), #37 Sawchuk (top border worn, mostly on back), and #45 Howe (slight border wear, shows on back). Next, cards in the EX/MT to NRMT range include #5 Mahovlich and #26 Beliveau.
Card #19 Richard is G to VG (crease on back), while card #22 Worsley is VG to VG/EX (some corner wear). The album shows light handling wear, with most of the cards which are all glued in, showing clean surfaces with light wear. The missing cards include Stewart, Shack, Duff, Douglas, Stanley, Armstrong, Brewer, Tremblay, Worsley, Provost, Gauthier, Harper, Balon, Ferguson, Pronovost, Jeffrey, F. Smith, Howe, Barley, Ullman, Joyal, Faulkner, Delvecchio, Goegan, Hampson and Ingram.
