Delightful dozen photos of the late Jean Beliveau are all originally from the deceased HOFer’s personal collection. Featured are vintage shots of Big Jean from his glory years with the Montreal Canadiens as well as his years as the most highly-sought prospect in hockey with the Quebec Citadelles and the Quebec Aces. Jean has signed the matte of a magnificent 8x10 studio portrait of himself. Ranging in size from a 9x7 signed photo of Jean in his Citadelles uniform that he autographed with the number 7 he wore at the time to five photos as large as 14x11, four of which bear Life Magazine stamps on the reverse from a 1952 article on Beliveau. Gorgeous 8x10 studio portrait of Beliveau in jacket and tie is wonderfully preserved within its centerfold matte, which Jean signed in black ink at the bottom, in its vintage 14” x 10 1/2" cardboard sleeve; Beliveau is pictured on the far right of the front row of a Quebec Citadelles team photo that measures 9 1/2" x 6 1/2" as displayed glued to its vintage Studio Jacques Quebec 13 3/4" x 11” matte; Closeup portrait of Beliveau in his Quebec Aces uniform measures 14x11 with “Reproduction Forbidden Life Magazine” stamp on the reverse, “As Quebec 1952” blue marker notation, and “Collection Jean Beliveau Photographe: Copyright Yale Joel, Life Magazine, Time Inc., December 31 1952” typed on a label sticker at the bottom of the reverse. There are cellophane tape remnants on each of the four corners of the reverse that do not affect the photo on the front, which is very nicely preserved with small creases on the corners and edges, and one small tear in the middle of the left edge; Photo of Beliveau looking at his newspaper clippings measures 12 1/2" x 10 3/4" with “Reproduction Forbidden Life Magazine” stamp on the reverse, “Life Photo by Yale Joel Dec 31 1952” stamps, and “As Quebec 1952” blue marker notation. Nicely preserved with various light creases that do not diminish its display, especially in suitable framing; 14x11 photo of Beliveau in his Canadiens uniform shaking hands with a Catholic bishop displays nice details including the markings and stamps on his hockey stick; Wonderful photo of Beliveau and Canadiens captain Maurice Richard in full uniform posed with legendary broadcaster Rene Lecavalier measures 13 1/2" x 9” with various handwritten pencil notations on the reverse, including their names and “1955-56”. The print exhibits handling in the form of various creases, mostly in the corners and particularly in the upper left. A magnificent and distinctive photo that is ready for worthy framing; Beliveau is pictured at the far left of the front row of a vintage 10” x 6 3/4" Quebec Citadelles team photo that has a Studio Jacques Quebec stamp on the reverse; Magnificent action shot of Beliveau soaring through the air in his white Canadiens uniform measures 10x8 with two Look Magazine stamps on the reverse; 11 1/4" x 9 3/4" picture of Beliveau and Canadiens alternate captain Maurice Richard with their hands on the Stanley Cup. Handwritten blue marker notation on the reverse reads, “1956 – 1 of 5 in a row, My first Stanley Cup.”
