Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/18/2025
Displayed on the front wearing the first sweater and logo in the history of the Montreal Canadiens franchise, the club's first goalie is depicted, Joseph Cattarinich. Card #16 in the series and inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1977 as a builder, Cattarinich didn’t last long in the Habs crease, recommending the team sign Georges Vezina and offering to step aside after the latter so impressed him in a Montreal-Chicoutimi exhibition game. Having just recently earned a highly respectable mark of EX 5 from the graders at PSA, the card retains excellent colours over the front despite some minor surface wear while the image is off-center from right-to-left. Also showing some even moderate toning over both sides, the card is a POP-16 example that has been bested by only nine (9) other copies. Housed in an excellent condition PSA holder, don't miss out on this one for your esteemed vintage collection!
