Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/18/2025
Witnessing the very first game ever played by the Toronto Blue Jays, a 9-5 victory over the Chicago White Sox on April 7, 1977, this Toronto Exhibition Stadium seat was installed that year for the Blue Jays, with research indicating that this style of seat was also installed at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in the era the Dodgers called it home between 1958 and 1961, explaining the "LA" logo that is found near each arm. With those seats removed during the Coliseum's first major renovation in 1964, it needs to be pointed out that it is unknown as to whether or not this particular example was once in use at the Coliseum and then recycled for use in Toronto, getting a repaint in the process before it was installed north of the border, or is simply one that was made from the original molds/casting as the originals that were used at the Coliseum. At approx 28" in height, the seat is free-standing and operational, with a "14" tag affixed to the top back slat. There is chipping and wear to the blue paint on either side, with fading to the lighter blue paint on the back slats.
