Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/18/2025
One of the game's tremendously important all-time players, with his status as the first black player to break the MLB's colour barrier, Jackie Robinson remains one of the most beloved figures to ever swing a bat. First winning the inaugural Rookie of the Year Award in 1947, Robinson would go on to earn 6 all-star berths, an MVP award and an NL batting championship while leading the Brooklyn Dodgers to the club's only World Series championship, in 1955. Offered here, we present this copy of Jackie's sought after rookie card that was included in Bowman's 1949 baseball release. Featuring a headshot image of Robinson over the front of the card, picturing him in his white Dodgers home uniform on a red background, the card has been assessed a grade of VG+ 3.5 by KSA after its inspection. Sporting excellent colours as well as overall pleasing centering, the desirable vintage cardboard does showcase some edge and corner wear all the way around as well as some minor surface wear that surely keep it from reaching a higher mark. Housed in a good condition KSA holder that shows just minor imperfections over each side, don't miss out on this one for your esteemed rookie card portfolio.
It must be noted that the grading standards followed by KSA may not correspond to those currently employed by PSA, BGS or SGC. The outcome of an attempted cross-over of this lot through any of those services, then, would be uncertain and cannot be guaranteed.
