Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/18/2025
Starting out in the Negro Leagues, Hank Aaron soon made a name for himself before making his Major League Baseball debut with the Milwaukee Braves at the start of the 1954 season. His first career home run came on April 23rd of that same year and for good measure, “Hammerin Hank” went ahead and hit 754 more just to be safe. With number 715 being the most significant of the 755 that Aaron hit in his career as that is the one that eclipsed the all-time record held by Babe Ruth, offered here is this copy of Aaron's 1959 Topps card. A beautiful high-grade specimen that has been assessed a mark of NMM 8 by the graders at KSA after its inspection, the card sports the attributes that one would expect of a high-grade offering including good colours, strong centering, sharp corners, smooth edges and clean surfaces. With the cartoon on the backside of the card commenting on how Aaron was named the NL MVP in 1957, the card is housed in a KSA holder that shows just light imperfections over both sides and which has a piece of plastic missing on its backside which does not impact the card inside the holder in any way.
It must be noted that the grading standards followed by KSA may not correspond to those currently employed by PSA, BGS or SGC. The outcome of an attempted cross-over of this lot through any of those services, then, would be uncertain and cannot be guaranteed.
