Getting its name for the blue color in which the cards are printed, the R346 Blue Tint set released in 1948 featured a checklist of 48-cards in all, which were all hand cut, having been originally issued in eight-card strips with six per strip. A scarce and obscure release that boasts a number of prominent stars, as well as rookie-era collectibles of Ralph Kiner, Warren Spahn and Jackie Robinson. Key players include: Joe DiMaggio (16), Mel Ott (18a, 18b), Lou Gehrig (29), Jackie Robinson (36), Bobby Feller (43) and Ted Williams (44), offered here is this copy of card #29 from the 1948 R346 release that pictures Lou Gehrig over the front of it. Featuring a small photo of "The Iron Horse" over the front with "Lou Gehrig" and the card number "29" found underneath, the card is blank on the reverse and has been graded to the tune of a NMM+ 8.5 designation by KSA. Displaying all the attributes that one would expect of a high-grade offering, the card is housed in an excellent condition KSA holder that shows just light scratches and scuffs over both sides which are worth mentioning for accuracy.
It must be noted that the grading standards followed by KSA may not correspond to those currently employed by PSA, BGS or SGC. The outcome of an attempted cross-over of this lot through any of those services, then, would be uncertain and cannot be guaranteed.
