Playing the entirety of his junior career with the Laval Titan, helping them to Presidents Cup championships in both 1990 and 1993, Martin Lapointe would end up being the 10th overall pick of the Detroit Red Wings at the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. Going on to play a total of 991 games in the National Hockey League over the course of his career, winning back-to-back Stanley Cup championships with the Red Wings in 1997 and 1998, Lapointe would also play for Boston, Chicago and Ottawa in his career, finishing his time in the NHL with over 1400 penalty minutes. Offered here, we present this jersey worn by Lapointe as a member of the QMJHL's Laval Titan circa 1990, during either the 1989-90 or 1990-91 seasons. An Ultrafil construction garment made by CCM, a Maska label displaying a penned size "52" designation is still affixed to the inner collar while the logos of both CCM and the CHL (Canadian Hockey League) are embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front of the jersey with a Laval team crest that features embroidered details throughout its entirety, the sleeves and verso of the jersey have been accented with Lapointe's number "22" in single layer white twill numerals. With the nameplate that once existed over the upper reverse long since lost to time after its removal by the team, the jersey, signed by Lapointe through the top of the second "2" on the reverse with a black marker ink signature that displays without issue, retains its original fight strap on the interior. Displaying heavy game-wear throughout its entirety, battle scars exist in the form of countless board burns, small unrepaired holes/cuts, stick marks, coloured board paint transfers and fabric snags while a large team repair is seen in the area over the left shoulder. Of note, general staining from use/age is seen throughout, heaviest near the ends of both sleeves and the lower front while some of the rusting in the snaps of the fight strap has created spot stains over the lower reverse as well. Furthermore, pilling is present around the collar and on the interior while a hologram from KSKS Collectables has been affixed to the bottom of the autographed "2" on the reverse.
