This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/18/2025
A product of the Kootenay Ice in the Western Hockey League, Dan Blackburn would lead his junior club to an appearance at the 2000 Memorial Cup, finishing with the regular season record of 34-8-7 in fifty-one (51) games played. Following up his freshman season in the CHL by claiming their "Goaltender of the Year" award, Blackburn would be drafted 10th overall by the New York Rangers at the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. Going on to play in a total of sixty-three (63) National Hockey League games before being forced into an early retirement in 2005, offered here is this WHL Kootenay Ice jersey worn by him during either the 1999-2000 or 2000-01 season of play. Made by Bauer, company labeling displaying "Authentic", "Goalie" and "58" (size) designations is affixed to the inner collar while an additional sewn in tag displays a size "58G" identifier as well. Having had both CHL and Bauer logos embroidered into the reverse hem plus an additional Bauer logo embroidered into the left breast, the front of the jersey is decorated with an Ice team crest that features embroidered details throughout its entirety while a swatch of black twill that has had "Kootenay" embroidered into it is found attached over the lower front. Styled over the sleeves and verso with Blackburn's number "1" in stacked tri-layer tackle twill numerals, "Blackburn" is spelt out in single layer white twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Retaining its fight strap on the interior and sporting alternate logo patches atop of both shoulders, the jersey shows evidence of game-wear through puck marks over the lower front and left sleeve while small unrepaired cuts/holes exist under the front crest and over the right sleeve underneath the number and at the cuff. Also showing pilling on the interior and a small board burn on the inside of the left sleeve, Blackburn has signed over the front of the jersey with a black marker ink signature that displays without issue. Of note, black ink marks are seen on the inside part of the left forearm that are worth mentioning for accuracy as well as stains through the front crest. A GameWornAuctions LOA will accompany the piece.
