Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/18/2025
The 1st overall pick of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Sidney Crosby has played in over 1200 National Hockey League games since his career began, every one of them in the black and gold uniform of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Owning a trophy case that includes numerous awards such as a trio of Stanley Cup championships, a pair of Olympic gold medals, two (2) Art Ross Trophies, two (2) Hart Trophies, and two (2) Conn Smythe Trophies along with many others, Sid has cemented himself as one of the best players to ever lace up a pair of skates and play the game of hockey. Offered here, we present this collection of programs and memorabilia pertaining to Crosby career milestones that date between 2005-06 to 2021-22. Including items such as game day programs from his first NHL game, point and goal (October 8th, 2005), the night he became the youngest player in NHL history to reach 100 points in a year (April 17th, 2006), his first All-Star Game (Dallas, 2007), first matchup with Alex Ovechkin (November 22nd, 2005), his 500th career NHL point (April 10th, 2010 - last regular season game at Mellon Arena), the last Penguins game to be played at Mellon Area (May 12th, 2010 - 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs - Eastern Conference Semi-Finals Game 7), his 1000th NHL point (February 16th, 2017) and the night he wrapped up his 2nd career Art Ross Trophy against Ovi and the Capitals (March 11th, 2014), all the programs remain in overall good condition or better for their efforts, showing handling wear to the surfaces, corners and edges as to be expected plus the odd page bend/warping that is also worth pointing out for accuracy. Also including Penguins "Puck Drop" magazine issues with covers pertaining to his 500th NHL goal and 1000th NHL game that are in the same condition as the programs, the rest of the lot includes a pair of 8" x 10" photos of Crosby's first NHL goal (both action and post game shots showing him with the historic puck) as well as Mellon Arena exclusive memorabilia pieces including a sealed coin display bringing his rookie season stats into the spotlight and a similar sealed display that contains a fabric captain's "C" from the 2006-07 season when Sid was named the Penguins leader. Overall, a fantastic grouping of Crosby memorabilia that is worthy of any collection.
