Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025

A Toronto Blue Jays opening game ticket and program are up for grabs in this lot celebrating the Canadian baseball team’s American League debut. The second Major League Baseball team to make home north of the border, the Jays played their first game on April 7th, 1977 against the Chicago White Sox at Exhibition Stadium. Battling snow and 35-degree temperatures, the hometown heroes would prevail by a 9-5 score and see Doug Ault become the first franchise hero with his two home runs providing much excitement. Offered here, is this Toronto Blue Jays April 7th, 1977 inaugural game full ticket that has been sealed in Lucite. Likely gifted to season ticket holders, the block measures 7 5/8” x 2 ¾” and displays some scratches and scuffs over each side. The ticket sealed on the inside is the blue variation and displays “Opening Game” in a groovy font at the top as well as the year, seat information, team logos, stadium and the original price of $5.00. The Blue Jays opening game program is a complete 116-page issue with the White Sox and Blue Jays lineup centerfold present and free of any writing. The program exhibits handling wear with a few creases present, some holes from removed staples on the bottom of the cover, and an unidentified signature in blue ballpoint on the cap pictured. A fantastic pair of pieces from the birth of the only Canadian team to win the World Series, don’t let this unique offering pass you by.
