Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/18/2025
The ninth winner of the American Triple Crown, setting and still holding the fastest time record in all three of its constituent races, Secretariat is widely considered to be the greatest racehorse of all time. The famous thoroughbreds 31-lengths victory in the Belmont Stakes is regarded by many as the greatest race ever run by a racehorse. This lot offers a Woodbine race program for Big Red's victorious and final race, which took place on Oct 28, 1973, along with an uncashed $2 win ticket. The program features the race as number "8", with Secretariat listed as horse #12, ridden by jockey Eddie Maple. The ticket has "2 Dollars" along the sides with "Eight Race" and "No12", with the moniker "Big Red". The ticket shows no condition issues, with some handling wear to the program along with a few pages having handicappers notes. This historic pair originates from the final race of arguably the greatest thoroughbred in history!
