Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025

Scoring his first NHL goal in just his second career game on January 27, 1951 vs Chicago, superstar Jean Beliveau would net his first NHL hat trick in the very next contest he played for Montreal, on December 18, 1952 vs New York. This United Press Telephoto shows Beliveau scoring the first goal of his hat trick, and it has been encapsulated by PSA and deemed "Authentic" Type 3. At 8"x 10", Beliveau is shown about to score on the Rangers' Charlie Rayner, with a pair of photographers capturing the historic moment seen in the background. The match ended 6-2, with the Habs winning at the Montreal Forum. The reverse has an affixed typed caption that erroneously calls this goal which was the first of his hat trick, his first "pro score". The photo exhibits beautifully, with just a few small corner creases that do not affect the image.
