Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/3/2024
An annual junior ice hockey exhibition tournament, held between a select team of Russian players and all-star teams representing the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, the Ontario Hockey League, and the Western Hockey League that was organized by the Canadian Hockey League, the event included six (6) games with the Russian Selects playing two (2) games versus each league's all-star team. With the CHL having won twelve (12) of the seventeen (17) series played as of 2019, offered here is this 2006 CHL Canada Russia Series Team QMJHL poster board that has been signed by approximately thirty (30) players of that year's QMJHL squad. Measuring 17 3/4" x 24" and displaying the Series logo and year plus the hosting locations and dates across Canada, all that have signed the piece have done so in black marker with some of the autographs difficult to make out due to wear or the dark background. Having been signed by notables such as Jonathan Bernier, Luc Bourdon, Kris Letang, Angelo Esposito, Claude Giroux and Brad Marchand among others, the piece itself shows vary amounts of moderate wear to the edges and corners that is worth noting for accuracy.
Additionally, also included with the poster board is a Team Slovakia game-issued pre-tournament jersey from the mid-2000s. Made by Metzen Athletic, a brand label displaying a size "54" designation is affixed to the inner collar while their logo graces the reverse neckline and right side of the collar. Decorated over the front with a Slovakia coat of arms team crest, a Slovakian Ice Hockey Federation patch has also been added over the left breast. Accented throughout the body and sleeves with numerous different sized sponsorship patches, the sleeves and verso have been accented with the number "13", which has been sublimated into the material. Showing no evidence of game-use, the jersey remains in overall excellent condition. All hailing from the personal collection of former Team Canada team physician, Dr. Michel Parayre, his signed LOA will accompany the lot.
