Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/3/2024
Feared by each and every NHL netminder for his legendary shot - arguably the greatest all-time, Bobby Hull frustrated keepers further by using an exaggeratedly large curved blade that added an unpredictable flight path to an already deadly projectile. The owner of 913 professional regular season goals between his time in both the National Hockey League and World Hockey Association and a champion of both the Stanley Cup and AVCO Cup, Hull would be inducted into the hallowed halls of the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1983. Still one of the most collected players in the hobby, offered here is this collection of Hull memorabilia. Paced by plaque presented to Hull during the 1974-75 season by the Edmonton Oilers Booster Club, the 12" x 9 5/8" wood plaque was presented to Hull in recognition of his role in helping to establish the WHA and reads in part, "Presented to Bobby Hull - With your leadership this league has attained professional status throughout North America - Oilers Booster Club, 1974-1975". Remaining in overall good condition with some wear throughout and pitting to the metal parts of the plaque itself, accompanying the plaque is a Blackhawks jersey that has been signed by "The Golden Jet" himself. A Reebok Premier model offering that remains in new-with-tags condition and sports brand/size "XL" tagging affixed over the lower front as well as inside the collar, the front is decorated with a Chicago team crest while Hull's number "9" has been added over the sleeves and verso. Sporting "Hull" across the nameplate at the top of the reverse, the jersey has been signed by Hull with a blue marker ink signature through the "9" on the reverse that shows some bleeding while a CoolHockey hologram has been affixed underneath. Also including a trio of 8" x 10" photos signed by Hull, one (1) showing him receiving the Hart Trophy in 1965, one (1) showing him as a Chicago Blackhawk and one (1) showing him as a Hartford Whaler, the MVP photo, taped to the back of a matte that includes an information plaque and Blackhawks lapel pin, has been signed by Bobby with a gold marker ink signature that includes a "MVP '65" inscription while also being serial numbered "202/1965". Sporting a "Golden Jet Authentics" sticker affixed to the bottom right hand corner and showing some glue residue along the bottom edge, the two (2) other photos have been placed in simple black coloured frames and have been signed by Bobby with blue ink signatures, with holograms also having been affixed and the Whalers one serial numbered "34/1980" in matching ink. Also including a Sports Illustrated cover picturing Bobby over it from February 3rd, 1964, Hull has signed it with a blue marker ink signature that shows flawlessly while typical wear exists over the cover itself. Rounded out with a Hull signed Blackhawks puck that sports a gold ink signature with matching "MVP 1965" inscription and a framed print of art by Walter Burden titled "Sunday Heroes" that has been signed by both Hull and Jean Beliveau in pencil at the bottom of the piece, there is light wear to the frame itself but the autographs are both in excellent condition overall while the autograph on the puck shows a bit of wear that is worth mentioning. Finally, the last item included is a 9-pocket binder sheet filled with hockey cards of Bobby Hull (x3), Bobby Orr (x3) and Gordie Howe (x3) that all date from the late-1960s to early-1970s and which are all in poor condition. With everything signed accompanied by COA's, don't miss out on this lot full of "Golden Jet" greatness!
