Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/3/2024
Just his second NHL season, in 1980-81 the Great One began setting the record books on fire as the first player to score over 160 points in an NHL season, as well as the youngest to score 50 goals. Gretzky finished the campaign with 164 points including 55 goals, and we offer a pair of O-Pee-Chee Gretzky cards from that record-setting season both graded by KSA. Included, we have a 1980-81 OPC Gretzky card #250 graded 8 NMM, along with a 1980-81 OPC Gretzky Record Breaker card #3 graded 7 NM. Both cards are off-centered but display well overall, and we should note a few scratches to the card #250 KSA case.
It must be noted that the grading standards followed by KSA may not correspond to those currently employed by PSA, BGS or SGC. The outcome of an attempted cross-over of this lot through any of those services, then, would be uncertain and cannot be guaranteed.
