A veteran of over 1000 National Hockey League contests after being drafted 95th overall by the Detroit Red Wings at the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Valtteri Filppula would wear the uniforms of Detroit, Tampa Bay, Philadelphia and New York over the course of his career, winning a Stanley Cup with the Red Wings in 2008. Having represented his native country of Finland on numerous occasions throughout his career also, winning an Olympic gold medal in 2022, offered here is this stick used by Filppula as a member of Team Finland at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey. A Warrior Dynasty model stick with "Filppula" factory graphics over the upper shaft, the stick retains its original blue cloth tape job over the handle/knob and black around the blade. Having had Filppula's number "51" penned to the bottom of the handle tape in silver marker ink, it should be noted that only images of Filppula using white tape during the tournament were found but the stick comes directly from someone closely connected with Finnish hockey who got it directly from Filppula himself. Displaying heavy game-wear via dark marks and abrasions throughout the length of the shaft, lower shaft and heel while a now dried but still tacky gripping agent appears over the length of the shaft as well while both sides of the blade tape show light marks.
