The longtime netminder for the Minnesota Wild, coming to North America for the 2006-07 season after capturing back-to-back championships in 2004 and 2005 with Finnish club Oulun Kärpät, Niklas Backstrom would play a total of 413 games over the course of his National Hockey League career with both Minnesota and the Calgary Flames. A Vezina Trophy finalist in 2009 and having represented his native Finland on numerous occasions throughout his career, offered here is this stick used by Backstrom during his stint with the Calgary Flames during the 2015-16 season. A Warrior Swagger model twig with "Backstrom" stamped over the upper shaft, the stick retains its original tape job of white and red cloth over the handle/knob while white cloth covers the hand grip at the top of the paddle. Also having had white tape wrapped around the blade, the stick displays with excellent game-wear including puck marks over both sides of the stick on the taped and untaped areas while lots of red post paint transfer marks decorate the stick over the backside of the upper shaft. Additionally, there are numerous dents caused by shots present throughout the paddle and shaft as well while the graphics show wear in areas and there are cuts over the blade tape on the forehand side. A Classic Auctions LOA will accompany the piece.
