This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/18/2025
Featuring a bevy of pre-war and post-war goodies all pertaining to the sports of ice hockey and ice skating, offered here is this collection of vintage cards and paraphernalia that date as far back as the 1880s. Including a group of nine (9) 1930s and 1940s hockey-themed ink blotters, ones of note among the group are examples featuring a sponsorship from CCM which measures out to 5 3/4" x 3 1/2" and remains in good condition with no ink on it as well as another, also in good condition with light edge and corner wear with no ink remains to speak of, that measures slightly larger than 3" x 6" and hails from a sporting goods store in Montreal and profiles the "Howie Morenz" tube skate. For the rest of the blotters, measuring out to roughly 5 1/4" x 3" at the smallest and just smaller than 9" x 4" at the largest, with the rest in between, the group features examples featuring branding from Shell (dated April 1937), Pagoria (December 1946 to February 1947), Sun Life (February 1948), Moon & Smith Refrigeration (January 1949), Gardiner Savings Institution (January 1949) and Belmont Metals (no date). All in overall good condition or better, no ink exists on any that are included and each shows mostly just light corner/edge wear that is worth making note of. With another pair of key items in the group coming in the form of an 1880 Bufford lithograph card which pictures a child in the winter with a field hockey stick, the blank back offering measures roughly 4 1/2" x 3 3/4" for its effort and remains in excellent condition overall with no major flaws except for "109855" having been penciled on the reverse at the top left corner. For the rest of the collection, paced by a vintage one (1) cent gambling punch board that features hockey graphics at the top of it, the board measures approx 6 1/2" x 9" and remains in both excellent condition as well as complete with none of the chips punched out of it.
