Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/18/2025
One of the greatest catchers to ever play baseball and a key member of the “Big Red Machine” era Cincinnati Reds that won back-to-back World Series Championships in 1975 and 1976, Johnny Bench took his rightful place in the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1989. Slugging a total of 389 home runs over the course of his career and named the National League MVP in both 1970 and 1972, offered here is this copy of Bench's 1968 Topps rookie card. Falling at #247 in the checklist and pictured alongside fellow Reds rookie, Ron Tompkins, the card has been assessed as mark of VERY GOOD+ 3.5 after its inspection by Beckett and presents with good colours and smooth edges while the image over the front is slightly off-center from left-to-right and the corners show some wear/rounding. Housed in a Beckett holder that shows light scratches and scuffs over both sides that are worth mentioning for accuracy, don't miss out on this one for your all-important vintage collection!
