Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024

Extremely pleasant to check out and admire is this example of Mario Lemieux’s 1985-86 O-Pee-Chee rookie card, the likes of which were discovered in (7-card) packs that cost 35 cents during the budding superstar’s second big league campaign. Mario’s 141 points as a Pittsburgh Penguins rookie were second only to Wayne Gretzky and to say that Lemieux impressed his peers is an understatement; NHL players voted and Mario was awarded the Lester B. Pearson Trophy as the most outstanding skater in the league. Recently graded by PSA this example earned a NM-MT 8. It displays wonderfully housed in a new PSA holder. Lemieux went on to lead the Penguins to two Stanley Cup titles as a player before adding three more as their owner!
