Playing his junior hockey with both the Thetford Mines Canadiens and Montreal Junior Canadiens, Marc Tardif would be drafted 2nd overall at the 1969 NHL Amateur Draft by the Montreal Canadiens and win Stanley Cup's with the famed bleu, blanc et rouge in 1971 and 1973 before jumping ship to the WHA to play for the Los Angeles Sharks, Michigan Stags and Quebec Nordiques. Winning a pair of AVCO Cup championships during his time in the rival league and first overall in WHA goals all-time, Tardif would once again find himself back in the NHL when the Nordiques were included in the 1979 WHA-NHL merger. Playing an additional four (4) NHL seasons before retiring, offered here is this Nords jersey worn by Tardif during the 1980-81 National Hockey League season. Void of any brand labeling affixed to the inner collar, a faded washing instructions/size label is affixed inside the shoulder seam and the jersey measures out to roughly a size "44". Having had a Maska logo embroidered into the reverse hem and retaining a ribbon style fight strap on the interior, the front of the jersey is decorated with a vinyl Nordiques team crest while the sleeves and verso have been styled with Tardif's number "8" in single layer blue vinyl numerals. Having had "Tardif" spelt out in matching style single layer blue vinyl letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse, fleur-de-lys grace the lower front and reverse as well as both shoulders and show heavy cracking, a commonplace on this pre-1991 Quebec jerseys. Of note, the numbers on the sleeves and verso are also heavily cracked, along with the letters spelling out "Tardif" while the layers of the crest are separating as well. Exhibiting strong game-wear throughout its entirety including numerous team repairs and stick marks throughout the body and both sleeves, the jersey also shows coloured board paint transfers and board burns as well as discolouration/spot/sweat staining plus pilling on the interior.
