Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/18/2025
A product of the Ontario Hockey Association's Ottawa 67's who was drafted 112th overall by the Chicago Black Hawks at the 1979 NHL Entry Draft, Doug Crossman would go on to play a total of fourteen (14) seasons in the National Hockey League, suiting up in 914 games over that time and donning the colours of Chicago, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, New York, Hartford, Detroit, Tampa Bay and St. Louis over that time frame. Offered here, we present this Flyers jersey worn by Crossman throughout the 1987 Stanley Cup Playoffs, including the Stanley Cup Finals against the Edmonton Oilers. An open style air-knit construction offering made by CCM that is void of the brand label that was once affixed to the inner collar due to a large repair, the jersey measures out to roughly a size "52" for its effort and has had the CCM logo embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front of the jersey with a Flyers team crest that has been administered in layered tackle twill, the sleeves and verso have been styled with Crossman's number "3" via dual layer tackle twill numerals while "Crossman" has been spelt out in single layer black twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Retaining its fight strap on the interior, which has been covered over its entire length with a piece of sewn on white twill, the jersey shows expected game-wear for only being worn for a short time including some light red marks over the lower front, board burns over both sleeves, a couple of fabric snags throughout, some minor board burns over the reverse hem, the aforementioned repair at the back of the collar and pilling on the interior. Of note, the white areas of the jersey are no longer crisp due to general use, age and light stains.
