A four-year product of the NCAA's Boston College Eagles between 1975 and 1979 who helped the school to an appearance in the 1978 National Championship Game against rival school Boston University, Joe Mullen, originally undrafted, would turn pro upon signing with the St. Louis Blues in the summer of 1979 and would go on to play a total of 1062 games in the National Hockey League with the likes of St. Louis, Calgary, Pittsburgh and Boston, winning a trio of Stanley Cups over that time. A three-time NHL All-Star who would be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2000, offered here is this St. Louis Blues jersey worn by Mullen during the 1985 Stanley Cup Playoffs. A rare one-year style made of heavy mesh by Rawlings, a size "46" tag from the brand is affixed inside the left hip seam along with another reading "2 inch shorter length" with "sleeve penned above it while a Rawlings logo has been screened over the reverse right hip. Decorated over the front with a tri-layer tackle twill Blues team crest that has "St. Louis" embroidered into it, "Blues" is spelt out in an arch above the logo in matching style as well while the sleeves and verso have been accented with Mullen's number "7" in tri-layer tackle twill numerals. Retaining a snap style fight strap on the interior and displaying "Mullen" spelt out in stacked dual layer blue-over-yellow tackle twill letters across the affixed matching mesh nameplate at the top of the back, it is worth mentioning that the jersey presents with a bit of ann off-white colour due to having been washed incorrectly by the Blues, something seen on other examples that have come to the hobby as well. Displaying with just light game-wear from having only been worn in a pair of games, stick marks are observed over the front, right shoulder, reverse and both sleeves, which also display with a couple of board burns as well. Accompanied by an LOA from Milt Byron of Byron's HockeyLand stating that the jersey is from the set worn during the 1985 Stanley Cup Playoffs that was bought by him directly from the team, it also needs to be noted for accuracy that a couple of small spot stains are present over the front and over the right elbow while a DoubleDekeHockey hologram is affixed to the size tag on the interior.
