Celebrating the iconic characters and stories from the Silver Age of Marvel Comics that spanned the decades of the 1960s and 1970s, the 1998 Skybox Marvel: The Silver Age release featured artwork by legendary artists Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko. Including a range of cards showcasing popular heroes and villains, pivotal moments, and classic comic book covers, the set features ninety (90) base cards as well as several insert sets, capturing the essence of this influential era in comic book history, appealing to collectors and fans alike. Offered here, we present this 1998 Skybox Marvel: Silver Age Sketchagraph card of Spider-Man that has been hand-drawn and signed by Stan Lee. With ten thousand Sketchagraph cards drawn for Marvel's "Silver Age" trading card series by a Who's Who team of Marvel artists, including John Romita Sr., Tom Palmer, John Buscema, George Tuska, Dick Ayers, Gene Colan, Marie Severin, and Joe Sinnott. Each drew on cards ranging from 200 to 1,700 pieces per artist, but only 100 were graced with Stan's sketch and signature, making it the rarest of all. With the example offered here featuring Lee's half sketched half portrait of Spider-Man, one of his most famous characters, over the front, Lee has signed the card front to the left of the sketch in the same pencil medium that the sketch itself has been done in. Having been assessed a mark of "AUTHENTIC" after assessment at PSA, only four (4) of these cards have been graded by the company over the years, with the one being offered a POP-3 example. With a statement on the reverse of the card affirming the manufacturer's guarantee of authenticity for the piece's content and serving as the COA as well, the card is housed in an overall excellent condition PSA holder that shows just a couple of small scratches over both sides that are worth mentioning for accuracy.
