Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/3/2024
Featuring a checklist of one hundred (100) cards that feature members of the "Big Four" IRFU teams; Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and Hamilton, along with 19 instructional (how-to-play-football) cards, written by Ted Reeve, the 1952 CFL Football set released by Parkhurst is the earliest known CFL set to be issued and all the cards of players are considered to be rookie offerings. Presented here, we offer this scarce 1952 Parkhurst CFL Football wrapper. A foil offering measuring approx. 4" x 4" that displays generic football and stadium graphics over the center as well as "Parkies 1952 Football Bubble Gum" and the original purchase price of .05 cents, the wrapper has had checklist information for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Ottawa Rough Riders written in pencil over the reverse. Remaining in overall good condition, light edge and corner wear is present all the way around while the interior of the silver coloured offering shows numerous fold lines and creases that are worth noting for accuracy.
