Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/3/2024
Hailing from years that saw the Montreal Canadiens continue their dominance over the National Hockey League by winning their third (3rd) and fifth (5th) of five (5) straight Stanley Cup championships in the 1950s, offered here is this lot consisting of starter sets from Parkhurst's 1957-58 and 1959-60 hockey releases. Starting with the earlier of the two (2) sets, the 1957-58 grouping includes twenty-eight (28) of the fifty (50) cards that make up the checklist. Missing the more expensive cards other than notables of 14-Moore, 15-Plante and 20-Baun RC, all the cards are low-grade specimens overall, with most having creases, wear to their corners and other defects. For the 1959-60 starter set, including twenty-one (21) of the fifty (50) cards, the set is missing the more expensive cards other than those of 23-Horton, 24-Mahovlich, 32-Bower and 50-Clancy. In a slightly better condition overall when compared to the other group, with less cards having creases but with the better ones included still displaying them, the other cards largely show wear/defects to their corners as well as other defects.
