The youngest winner of the Vezina Trophy for best goaltender as an 18-year-old rookie in 1984, Tom Barasso is the also youngest NHL netminder to ever be awarded the Calder Memorial Trophy. The Boston native backstopped the Pittsburgh Penguins to a pair of consecutive Stanley Cup championships, in 1991 and 1992. A veteran of 777 National Hockey League games for Pittsburgh, Ottawa, Carolina, Toronto and St. Louis who was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2023, offered here is this pair of photo-matched pads worn by Barrasso during the 1995-96 season. A pair of white Vic/Pete Smith made offerings that are done in a futuristic style of a nylon and leather construction, no brand or Barrasso identifiers are seen anywhere on the thick pillows while all the straps and buckles are present on the backside of each pad as well as at the toes. Displaying heavy wear with leather fraying found throughout the edges of the piece, numerous puck marks are found throughout the faces as well as the inside and outside edges while team repairs have been made to the front of both pads as well. Additionally, more team repairs are found on the inside of each leg channel at the knee blocks and there are good amounts of red post paint transfers on the outside of each near the boot. Regarding the photo-matches, Getty Image #517814942 and #514873562 (May 24th, 1996 vs Florida - Eastern Conference Final Game 3) have been matched to various puck marks over the front, inside and outside of both pads as well as team repairs over the faces of each as well. Originating from the Penguins practice facility, don't miss out on these!
