Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/3/2024
Regarded by many to this day as the greatest hockey player to ever lace up a pair of skates, the name Gordie Howe is synonymous with the game loved and played by so many across the world. In a career that spanned over five different decades from 1946-71 and 1973-80, fans and players alike will still find Howe’s name near the top of the all-time leaderboards all these years later. Just as good on the baseball field as he was on the ice, Howe took up 1st base for the Saskatoon 55s of the Northern Saskatchewan Baseball League in the Summer of 1951 before the Red Wings put a stop to it. Offered here, we present this Gordie Howe Adirondack baseball bat that has been signed by the hockey legend. An Adirondack "Professional Model" stick with the brand's logo as well as "Gordie Howe" branded into it, the bat measures 34" in length and has been signed by Howe over the barrel with a blue marker ink signature that displays without issue. Accompanied by a wooden display case that shows wear to the plastic cover which the winning bidder can choose to have included with the lot or not and remaining in overall good condition with some minor handling marks seen near the end, also included with the lot is a full sized Stroh's Beer promotional stick made by Louisville that is signed by Howe over the blade with a silver marker ink signature that displays well and a full sized wooden stick commemorating the Red Wings' 1997 Stanley Cup championship that has been signed over the blade by the likes of Alex Delvecchio, Ted Lindsay, Sid Abel, Johnny Wilson and Leo Reise with blue marker signatures that display without issue. Both sticks are found in good condition despite some light handling marks and abrasions throughout from age.
