Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/3/2024
Debatably the best player of the 1980s and 1990s as the only one able to hold a candle with the likes of countryman Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux’s storied career featured adversity like no one had ever seen before but still saw him register ten (10) seasons of 100 points or better and win a pair of Stanley Cups. Up for grabs here, is this collection of eleven (11) Mario Lemieux O-Pee-Chee hockey cards that date between 1985-86 and 1989-90. Paced by a copy of Mario's 1985-86 rookie card that is found to be in the range of EX condition with very light wear along the top border over both the front and reverse, 70-30 centering and very slight corner fuzz at the bottom right point, other first year examples include a pair of his 1985-86 "Rookie Scoring Leaders" cards that are seen as being around EX-MT to NM and EX-MT (slight wear to top left corner) respectively. For the rest of the lot, present are two (2) copies of Lemieux's main series card from 1986-87 that are both around EX-MT to NM, two (2) copies of his 1987-88 main series card that are in the condition ranges of EX-MT to NM and EX to EX-MT (slightly off-center and slightly faded), two (2) copies of his 1988-89 main series card that are in the condition ranges of EX-MT to NM and GOOD (damage to top left border) and finally, two (2) copies of his 1989-90 main series card that are both around the neighborhood of EX-MT to NM.
