Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024

What a start to a big-league career it was for big Ken Dryden, the former Cornell star winning his six first regular season NHL starts down the stretch in 1970-71 and then helping the Canadiens to pull off a highly unlikely upset of the record-setting Bruins in the first round of the playoffs....and then backstopping the Habs to series wins over the North Stars and Black Hawks and the Stanley Cup! Playing in a record 20 playoff tilts, Dryden earned the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP. Offered here, we present this pair of Dryden rookie cards from O-Pee-Chee's 1971-72 hockey release. Pictured in a deep action crouch over the front of each card with "Canadiens" above in purple letters, the first card presents in the condition range of G to VG due to wear and light dings to all four (4) corners along with a bit of wear to the left border as well. For the second card, seen as being around FR to G condition, the card is impacted by a crease that goes right across the top right as well as corner wear all the way around. A pair of special first-year cards featuring one of the best to ever tend the twine in the game of hockey, these examples awaits their new home in your all-important collection.
