Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/3/2024
Always a hobby favourite and featuring a groovy array of colours as well as a strong group of National Hockey League star power, up on the block this time is a near complete assembly of O-Pee-Chee’s fabled 1971-72 release. Ringing in with 262 of the set’s 264 cards present and accounted for, the group is missing only the two (2) checklist cards, #111 and #264 respectively, for completion. Found to be in the fairly consistent grade range of EX throughout its entirety with a small percentage of cards that are of a lower grade state due to creases scattered throughout the release, the key cards include those of 45-Dryden RC (EX to EX-MT - very slight ding to the top right corner), 50-Hull (EX-MT to NM), 100-Orr (GOOD - creased), 114-Clarke (FR to G - 2nd year card - light crease and water stain), 133-Dionne RC (EX to EX-MT - slight wear to the top corners), 148-Lafleur RC (FR to G - creased), 193-Sittler (EX to EX-MT - 2nd year card - corner wear), 245-Orr (EX-MT - slight corner wear), 251-Orr AS (EX-MT - slight corner and top border wear), 262-Howe Mr. Hockey (VG to VG-EX - light corner and bottom border wear) and 263-Beliveau (G to VG - crease at top right corner). With the cards of Yvan Cournoyer creased Bernie Parent showing an elastic mark, also included with the near-complete assembly is a group of over seventy-five (75+) of the O-Pee-Chee/Topps insert hockey booklets that includes heavy repetition but still includes some missing, many being the stars of the 24-booklet release.
