Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024

A member of three Stanley Cup championships with the New York Rangers including two as a player in 1928 and 1933, and once more as a coach is 1940, Frank Boucher was a perennial Lady Byng Memorial Trophy winner during his Hall of Fame career. Winning the award seven times in eight years, Boucher was given the trophy outright, with Lady Byng donating a second trophy to the NHL. Enshrined in the Madison Square Garden's Hall of Fame in 1968 and originating from his personal collection, we have Boucher's HOF plaque. According to our consignor, these were the examples given directly to the players upon the unveiling of larger plaques at MSG's Hall of Fame, with this venue removed upon a refurbishing in the early-1990s (interestingly, our consignor attended such an event at MSG circa 1983 when Harry Howell was inducted). At 9" x 9" with mounted metal plates, an image of Boucher appears over the right, with stats on the upper left and "Madison Square Garden Hall of Fame 1968" to the bottom left plate. There is a bit of wear to the plaque and the text on the bottom left plate, with the condition excellent overall. Boucher passed away in 1977, and is ranked No. 9 all-time of the 901 New York Rangers who had played during the team's first 82 seasons in the 2009 book "100 Ranger Greats".
