Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024

From his time guarding the crease of the Toronto Maple Leafs for a trio of seasons in the mid-1960s, Terry Sawchuk would earn the Vezina Trophy during his inaugural blue and white campaign in 1964-65, and would hoist Lord Stanley’s cup in his final season in Ontario, in 1966-67. Offered here, we present this stick used by Sawchuk as a member of the Maple Leafs. A CCM Pattern Made Custom Pro model with a faint “Sawchuck” name stamp appearing over the shaft along with "Bonded Fiberglass Wrap", the stick retains Terry's original but tattered black tape job around the blade and top of the paddle while the handle has been retaped by someone at some point. Of note, despite the retaping of the handle, it appears that the white-over-black wrapping that is found around the knob is original to the stick, with the white tape around the handle added afterwards underneath and showing a clear separation spot. Displaying good game-wear including puck marks and abrasions throughout both sides of the paddle and shaft, the stick likely fell victim to being used by a kid in the era during street hockey as the blade shows numerous cracks/breaks and heavy wear. Still desirable despite this, don't miss out on this stick once wielded by one of the best to ever stand between the pipes in the National Hockey League.
