Sporting some of the most iconic head gear ever seen in the sport, with his famous “Stitches” specimen ushering-in the era of the painted mask, Gerry Cheevers enjoyed a lengthy career in both the NHL and WHA, with HOF enshrinement occurring in 1985. A two-time Stanley Cup champion in the Boston Bruins who jumped ship to the World Hockey Association in 1972, where he played three and a half seasons for the Cleveland Crusaders. A three time time WHA All-Star, offered here is this stick used by Cheevers as a member of the Crusaders during the WHA's inaugural season of 1972-73. A Northland Custom Pro model twig with "Cheevers" stamped over the shaft and faded "Larson Industries" stamps over both sides of the upper shaft, a factory production code of "0605" is found on the underside of the shaft as well. Retaining its original white-over-black tape job around the handle/knob and black around the paddle and blade as well, Cheevers has signed over the upper shaft with a faded blue ballpoint pen ink signature. Additionally, Bill Horton, who only played for Cleveland in '72-'73 has signed over the shaft as well with a matching style signature that displays a bit better. Free from any cracks or breaks and displaying game-wear via a number of puck marks and other abrasions throughout the shaft, paddle and blade, red post paint transfer marks are observed over the backhand side of the upper shaft and forehand side of the blade. Also displaying with some small tears over both sides of the blade tape, including many on the backhand side from being knocked against the tips of Cheevers' skate blades, a small amount of wear exists to the underside of the heel as well that is worth noting for accuracy.
