Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/3/2024
On top of the hockey world with his unbelievable 212 points scored in 1981-82 including 92 goals, Wayne Gretzky kept kids ripping through wax packs to secure his cards the following season, with the offered 1982-83 O-Pee-Chee hockey card wax box thankfully escaping ravaging youthful hands. Containing 48 packs with 10 cards-per-pack, 480 possibly high-grade cards await, including the desirable cards of Gretzky along with the rookies for Grant Fuhr, Ron Francis and Dale Hawerchuk. Certified by BBCE and shrink-wrapped with their hologram and label affixed to the underside, the label states "1982/83 OPC Hockey Unopened Wax Box" while the once intact strip of scotch tape that sealed the box is still present over the front edge despite being broken. Remaining in overall excellent condition for its effort, a small amount of corner and edge wear is observed over the top and bottom while a liquid stain exists over the top lid and back left corner plus left side. Also sporting a small amount of surface wear over the top, bottom and sides, the top of the fold up display lid, which has not had its perforations popped, displays the original price per pack purchase price of .25 cents. With the BBCE shrink wrap found to be fully intact and in excellent condition overall, the box remains a true gem. Numerous opportunities and questions as to keep it sealed or bust it open await our lucky winning bidder!
