Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/3/2024
Any and all pre-war hockey cards, with good reason, always command respect and interest, with the level elevated when it comes to O-Pee-Chee’s unique 1936-37 die-cut issue, the cards designed to have part of the top half folded in order to stand the cards up. Sporting a checklist that is full of the stars of the era, including numerous future Hockey Hall of Fame inductee's, offered here, is this group of five (5) cards from the 1936-37 O-Pee-Chee Series "D" (V304D) release that includes the likes of HOFers Howie Morenz, Lynn Patrick and Turk Broda. Starting with the three (3) best cards, card #121 of Morenz is seen as being in the scope of VG to VG-EX shape with wear to the top right corner and fuzz to the back of the same point while card #128 of Patrick presents around G to VG shape due to a large ding at the top right corner. Finally, card #97, the rookie card of Turk Broda, is seen as being "Authentic" due to being detached from the rest of the card. For the final two (2) cards included, the rookie card of #113 Art Wiebe and card #115 Earl Robinson, the pair is seen as being in the conditions of VG and GOOD respectively, with the Weibe sporting a tiny crease that shows on the reverse and slight corner wear, while the Robinson is not detached but a bit loose and has a tiny crease that appears over the reverse.
