Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/3/2024
Granted entry into the National Hockey League during the first round of expansion in 1967, the Philadelphia Flyers have enjoyed considerable success throughout their history and quickly established themselves into the "Broad Street Bullies" during the decade of the 1970s. Claiming Lord Stanley's coveted mug in back-to-back years of 1973-74 and 1974-75, their only two (2) championships to date despite laying claim to numerous legends throughout the years and having made the playoffs in 40 of their 57 seasons of play, offered here is this collection of signed Flyers jerseys that includes examples of Claude Giroux, Daniel Briere and Simon Gagne as well as a practice jersey that has been team-signed by twenty (20) members of the 2007-08 Flyers. Starting with the individually signed examples, all made by Reebok and sizes "L", "XL" and "52", each remains in overall excellent condition and features tackle twill team crests, names and numbers. Signed with either black or blue marker ink signatures through their numbers on the reverse, the examples of Briere and Gagne show bleeding that is worth noting for accuracy. Of note, the single signed jerseys may have been in a frame at one point as some pinholes and thread are found throughout. For the practice jersey, an orange garment made by Reebok that is tagged as being a size "M", a twill Flyers team crest appears over the front along with an NHL shield patch at the base of the collar. Signed over the front by notables including Briere, Kapanen, Upshall, Hartnell, Lupul, Biron, Carter, Richards and others, all the signatures have been signed in black marker and display without issue. A JSA Auction LOA will be included for the three (3) individually signed jerseys but NOT the team-signed practice jersey.
