Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/3/2024
Always popular and talked about highly among those collectors that chase vintage offerings, Parkhurst’s inaugural hockey release from the 1951-52 season is up for grabs here in near-complete set form with 102 of the 105 cards making up the checklist present and accounted for. Missing the examples of 10-Harvey RC, 15-McNeil RC and 66-Howe RC for completion and coming with an extra copy of card #43, the rookie card of George Gee from the Chicago Black Hawks, the assembly is paced by a group of eight (8) freshly graded cards that were just received back from PSA that includes the likes of #4 Maurice Richard RC (PSA PR 1), #14 Boom Boom Geoffrion RC (PSA FR 1.5), #52 The Winning Goal (PSA GOOD 2), #56 Ted Lindsay RC (PSA FR 1.5), #61 Terry Sawchuk RC (PSA PR 1), #63 Alex Delvecchio RC (PSA GOOD 2), #75 Turk Broda (PSA GOOD 2) and #86 Teeder Kennedy RC (PSA VG 3). For the rest of the set, found to be on the lower end scale of things grade wise with the average condition ranging from FR to GOOD, roughly twenty (20) to twenty-five (25) of the included cards are a bit worse off, falling into the scope of POOR condition for their efforts instead. Among the included notables are those of 1-Lach RC (POOR - multiple creases), 19-Henry RC (GOOD - corner wear and small crease at bottom right), 26-Quackenbush RC (PR to FR - creased), 29-Schmidt (G to VG - corner wear), 37-Gadsby RC (PR - heavy crease and stain), 47-Lumley RC (PR - multiple creases), 48-Bentley RC (GOOD - light crease at the left side), 49-Mosienko RC (PR to FR - pin hole at top border), 55-Kelly RC (PR - faded and creased), 68-Pronovost RC (FR to G - light crease across the middle), 94-Stanley RC (FR to G - light crease across the middle) and 104-Rayner RC (FR to G - stain on the reverse and glue residue over the top border). Perhaps the most famous hockey card set of all-time, don't miss out on this assembly for your portfolio!
