Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/3/2024
One of the premier hockey equipment makers in Canada throughout the mid-20th century, Daignault-Rolland of Quebec - also know as D&R, were especially adapt at producing goaltender equipment. This lot offers a beautiful vintage circa 1940s D&R chest protector along with 3 masks. The full size felt protector with leather padding sections sewn on has a perfect D&R beaver logo in silver over the bottom flap, with "ALL-Pro" in matching silver to the body. The original shoulder and upper midsection straps are intact, with the protector showing just light use overall, with some minor surface rust to a couple of the grommets. The masks include a 1930s WinnWell model and one with no identifiers - with both showing use including paint that was added to the unidentifiable mask (both of these models are known to have been used by catchers in baseball as well). The final mask is a rarer circa 1960s D&R model used specifically for hockey with white leather and cross strapping, and it remains in excellent condition possibly never used or just very lightly.
