Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/3/2024
A neat group for those enamored by early skates, we have two pairs from the 19th century and two individual 19th century skates, along with a pair of more modern 1940s skates and an individual 1910s/20s boot-clamp skate with attached boot. The 19th century pairs include one with finished wooden bases and brass plates, with thick blades that show some minor surface rust. There is also a pair with rough wooden bases and thin curled-tip blades, with the original strapping all intact (the pair show heavy wear and rusting). Next, there are two individual circa mid-1800s curled tip skates with wooden bases, with one showing areas of the original red finish to the base (both show heavy wear with rusting to the blades). The lot is rounded out with a circa 1910s/20s clamp skate with the original boot it was first attached to, with the boot marked "Gimbels" for the department store (the boot and blade both show considerable wear). Lastly, we have a pair of circa 1940s skates with Steel Shank boots and "DeLuxe" blades (there is wear to the leather boots and minor spot rusting to the blades).
