Hailing from a season in which the Hamilton Tiger-Cats knocked off the BC Lions for the 51st Grey Cup championship, the 1963 Canadian Football League season was the tenth (10th) in modern-day Canadian football, although it was officially the sixth (6th) Canadian Football League campaign. With average attendance exceeding 20,000 spectators per game for the first time in league history, offered here is this scarce and seldomly found near-complete set of the 1963 Nalley's CFL football coins. Featuring a total of 152 out of the 160 coins that make up a complete set and missing only those of 111-Wright, 112-Volcan SP, 115-Frechette, 118-Peterson, 136-Crawford, 151-Hagemoen, 157-Dennis and 160-Bilicki for completion, the group does include various different back variations throughout including Nalley's Potato Chips, Hunter's Potato Chips, Krun-Chee Potato Chips, and Humpty Dumpty Potato Chips as well as no company name "anonymous" backs that are english only and "anonymous" backs that are bilingual. In total, there were eight teams represented with 20 coins per team: Toronto Argonauts (1-20), Ottawa Roughriders (21-40), Hamilton Tiger Cats (41-60), Montreal Alouettes (61-80), Winnipeg Blue Bomber (81-100), Edmonton Eskimos (101-120), Calgary Stampeders (121-140), and British Columbia Lions (141-160). Including better and more sought after coins of players including 1-Parker, 2-Shatto (fading to holder), 21-Jackson (small image scratches - insert raised up from plastic holder at bottom edge), 23-Thelen (small images scratches), 41-Faloney (small holder chips), 44-Patterson, 48-Barrow (light surface wear to the holder), 52-Cosentino (small images scratches - scratches to backside of the holder), 57-Sutherin (surface scratches and light wear to edge of plastic holder), 62-Dixon (light image scratches), 67-Luster (scratches on the backside of the holder), 81-Lewis (small image scratches, light wear to the edges of the holder and off-center), 82-Ploen (staining/residue over image), 92-Gray (small image scratches, 100-Grant, 101-Keys (surface scratches over the image), 105-Coffey (image scratches), 108-Bright (minor surface scratches), 109-Getty (minor surface scratch and residue at 12 o'clock), 124-Harris, 126-Luzzi (image scratches), 134-Keeling (minor surface scratches), 142-Fleming (small scratches), 144-Fieldgate (slightly off-center and surface scratches) and 145-Kapp (light surface dirtiness and light warping along bottom of insert). Additionally, unless noted above, the colourful plastic holders for the inserted images remain in good condition, showing varying degrees of scratches that range from light to moderate mostly with a couple of heavily scratched ones also observed. Moving on, for the desirable short-printed coins, included are notables such as 13-Morris (faded plastic holder and foggy reverse plus a couple of light surface scratches), 14-Wirkowski (plastic holder a bit faded and reverse a bit foggy in spots), 17-Patrick (small image scratches and light fogginess on the reverse), 59-Viti (light surface scratches and a tad off-center), 60-Mosca (light insert warping and surface scratches), 79-Learn (light insert warping and faded plastic holder) and 80-Poliziani (light surface scratches, faded plastic holder and marks over the reverse). Of note, most of the plastic inserts of the short printed holders are faded with some showing light wear to the edges. With the rest of the coins throughout seen as being in mostly in a good mid-grade condition overall with intermittent scratches over the reverses and largely just showing the same levels of other flaws as listed above, don't miss out on this for your all-important vintage gridiron collection!
