Enjoying a four year junior career in the Ontario Hockey League as a member of the Peterborough Petes, Jason Dawe would be drafted 35th overall by the Buffalo Sabres at the 1991 NHL Entry Draft and go on to play a total of 366 games in the National Hockey League, playing for the Sabres as well as the Islanders, Canadiens and Rangers over the course of eight (8) years in the league. A gold medalist at the 1993 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship as a member of Team Canada, offered here is this Islanders jersey worn by Dawe during the 1997-98 season after being acquired from the Sabres. Made by CCM, a pair of "Goalie Style" labels as well as a size "56" fly tag are affixed to the inner collar while both the CCM and NHL shield logos have been embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front with the well-known Islanders team crest and matching lighthouse alternate logo patches over each shoulder, the sleeves and verso have been accented with the number “44” in wavy tri-layer tackle twill numerals. Showing “Dawe” spelt out in single layer white twill kiss-cut letters across the affixed matching wavy nameplate at the top of the reverse, the jersey exhibits just light wear via a stick marks that are present over both sleeves while the ends of each sleeve have been hastily cut to shorten their length. Signed by Dawe through the top of the first "4" on the reverse with black marker ink signature that displays well despite some bleeding around the edges, the jersey retains its fight strap on the interior and has been signed by by Islanders equipment man, Joe McMahon, behind the crest on the interior in black marker ink, along with a season annotation reading "97-98".
