Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/3/2024
Playing junior hockey in the QMJHL between 1998 and 2001 with the likes of the Shawinigan Cataractes, Val d'Or Foreurs and Acadie-Bathurst Titan, Jean-Francois Laniel would be selected 80th overall by the Florida Panthers at the 1999 NHL Entry Draft and would go on to play a pair of minor professional seasons in the CHL with the New Mexico Scorpions and the Amarillo Rattlers. Offered here, we present this mask worn by Laniel as a member of the Titan during his final junior season of 2000-01. Made by Itech and displaying brand logos behind each ear, the interior of the mask still sports all its original padding and chin cup as well as the sweat band with all three (3) showing sweat staining/soiling from use. Featuring a symmetrical ocean and Acadian boat design over both sides of the mask and a Acadie-Bathurst Titan team logo over the chin, "Laniel" is painted over the bottom edge of the back plate on the reverse. Featuring its original white cats eye cage over the front that is bent in places and missing some hardware, the mask shows heavy use through numerous chips, scratches and abrasions throughout its entirety, heaviest over the bottom of the chin and around the edge of the shell. An LOA will accompany the piece.
