Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
Hailing from the final season of "Original Six" play in the National Hockey League, the 1966-67 Topps set featured a checklist consisting of 132 total cards and was spearheaded by the key first year card of none other than possibly the greatest defenseman the game has ever seen, Bobby Orr. All horizontally orientated and featuring a design that mimics that of a television set, with player images superimposed in front of a backdrop of a game crowd, offered here is this near-complete set of Topps' 1966-67 hockey release that includes 113 of the set's 132 cards, with each having been signed by the player featured over the front. All having been certified as being "Authentic" by PSA/DNA, with the cards deemed to be authentic as well (of note, card #20 of Marcel Pronovost has only had the signature authenticated, not the card itself), the group is headlined by a total of twenty-six (26) cards that have been signed by now deceased inductees of the Hockey Hall of Fame including 2-Gump Worsley, 8-Henri Richard, 11-Punch Imlach, 12-Johnny Bower, 16-Allen Stanley, 20-Marcel Pronovost, 21-Emile Francis, 26-Rod Gilbert, 42-Sid Abel, 44-Andy Bathgate, 50-Leo Boivin, 59-Pierre Pilote, 62-Stan Mikita, 64-Bobby Hull "Leading Scorer", 65-Charlie Hodge/Gump Worsley "Vezina Trophy", 73-Jean Beliveau, 79-Red Kelly, 84-George Armstrong, 85-Boom Boom Geoffrion, 91-Harry Howell, 112-Bobby Hull, 123-Pierre Pilote AS, 124-Stan Mikita AS, 127-Jean Beliveau AS, 128-Allen Stanley AS and 130-Gump Worsley AS.
