Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024

A star in his native Germany in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga who also suited up for his country on numerous occasions throughout his career, including at the 1998 Olympic Winter Games in Nagano, Japan, Wieland would also be named to Team Germany at the inaugural 1996 World Cup of Hockey but not make it into any of their games. Offered here, we present this Team Germany jersey issued to Wieland for use at the 1996 World Cup of Hockey. Made by Nike, brand/size "56" tagging is affixed to the inner collar while two different styles of Nike logos have been sublimated into the material of the jersey over the left shoulder and right collar bone. Decorated over the front with a Team Germany crest that has been sublimated into the material of the black coloured garment, a 1996 World Cup of Hockey event patch has been sewn over the left shoulder. Sporting another Nike swoosh behind the right shoulder, the sleeves and verso of the jersey have been styled with Wieland's number "33" in dual layer yellow-over-red tackle twill numerals while "Wieland" has been spelt out in single layer yellow twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Displaying a Nike Team Sports barcode heat pressed inside the reverse hem, the jersey remains in overall excellent condition with no signs of use and is accompanied by an NHLPA COA.
